Never in my mind have I really pondered deeply about the life of Joseph Smith.
But I believe no one,
Except Christ,
Has ever or will ever have felt the miraculous pain he went through,
Purely for god,
And us.
Imagine you are in a room full of people.
You notice your friends there.
Of course,
You would do anything for them.
But you also see your enemies.
And you also see many strangers.
Would you devote all of your life to relentless persecution for them?
Would you have gone through the stress of translating what seemed like just a bunch of letters on a plate of gold for these people?
I firmly believe Joseph was different.
He had an incredibly firm faith of the gospel.
He talked to god face to face.
Joseph was so brave.
After escaping cartilage jail,
What did he do?
He came back.
He was shot trying to protect his friends.
He knew his time was up,
And he was content to leave this earth.
He knew his work had been finished.
He had devoted his life to the gospel.
He lost four out of his five children.
3 died two hours after birth.
The other child,
Almost an infant,
Was left outside with a cold because of a mob that invaded Joseph and Emma's house.
The baby died of exposure.
Joseph also came close to losing his wife,
He spent many years in jail,
He was tarred and feathered by the mob that left his baby outside,
And never had a job, which allowed no income.
I mourn for Joseph,
And I almost envy him.
Imagine the happiness he was and still is feeling in heaven front the burning testimony within him.
What a life that would be.
